MY JOB: Ms. O, a Sales Representative

Today, we would like to introduce Ms. Y.O., who joined our Head Office in Tokyo in 2020. Ms. O changed her career as a nurse to our sales staff.

Q. Please tell us the reason why you joined Kono Seisakusho.

When I was a nurse, I saw medical manufacturers and agencies coming to attend operations, and I learned that there was work involved in medical care in this way. I decided to change jobs because I wanted to broaden my knowledge and to have experiences more than nursing. I was interested in the suture, the area I was most familiar with, so I entered this company.

Q. What are your main responsibilities at present?

As a sales representative, I visit beauty, ophthalmology, and animal-related hospitals in Tokyo and its surrounding areas. I am also in charge of hospitals in Ibaraki, Gunma, and Tochigi areas. I am also involved in the development of beauty-related products and working on products made of titanium as a project manager.

Q. What are some experience as a nurse that is helpful in your work?

As a nurse, I was able to see operations from close sight, so now I can propose accurate products for ambiguous inquiries, such as “I want sutures for XX surgery.” Also, when I speak with teachers and agencies, I feel it is less difficult to communicate because I have the minimum necessary knowledge.

Q. How do you spend your days off?

I often take my pug to the dog park. My dog likes clothes with strings attached, such as hoodies. He is very smart and remembers which clothes have strings. So, as soon as he finds those clothes, he takes them away from me.

Q. Please tell us about recent events in your work.

Last month, I attended the conference of the Japanese Society of Female Pelvic Floor Medicine. Thankfully, I often have the opportunity to go to academic conferences, such as plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, ophthalmology, and other fields. During academic conferences, I can see my senior colleagues talking with doctors. I believe it is a valuable experience for me since I had little chance to see their sales style because of COVID-19.

Q. What are your future goals?

I would like to be able to explain sutures smoothly like my Manager N and other senior sales staff. I am also working on the development of new products, so I will do my best to commercialize them.

Comment from Manager N

Ms. O always tries her best to work hard. Although she sometimes gets carried away with her work, which is also her strength, and she is now becoming more and more like a salesperson. I am looking forward to her further progress with the arrival of her junior colleagues.

Mr. O has a great sense of humor. I imagine she communicates very well with doctors. Thank you for accepting our interview.
