We interviewed Ms. Sheima, who joined our internship program. After graduating from high school in France, she has experienced various internships.
The Reason for Joining Our Internship
I study international relations at a university in France. I needed to join internships abroad for my graduation.
I was interested in marketing medical equipment and medicine supply chains. Also, I wished to live in Japan. That is why I decided to join the internship in Kono Seisakusho.
This is the third company for me to participate in internships since I graduated from high school. I have experience of working as a hotel receptionist and at a travel agency.
Contents of the Internship Program?
I am working on the research on the French market size. I was able to gain information by searching through the Internet, using English, French, and sometimes German. However, there were some cases that I found complicated and hard to understand.
In that case, I contacted my friends and family in France and understood the treatments taken by the doctors in France. I was able to gather beneficial information in this way.
Gains from the Program
Through my internship, I learned about the medical equipment industry and the treatments for diseases. I also experienced the professionalism of the people who work in Japanese companies. This experience will surely be valuable for me in the future.
Also, I think it will be helpful for me to work globally, knowing the working style and the way of thinking in Japan.
In the beginning, I thought that the cultural difference between France and Japan would be some difficulties in working. Now, learning and acquiring Japanese culture is meaningful for me.
Views in the Future
I would like to become a flight attendant. On the other hand, I have a large interest in marketing.
Life in Japan
I went to a supermarket nearby and experienced the way of living in Japan. I was impressed, and at the same time, I was able to get along with it.
I am a shy person, so for the first time, I was nervous about the everyday greetings such as “o-ha-yo-u-go-za-i-ma-su (good morning)” and “o-tsu-ka-re-sa-ma-de-shi-ta (thanks for your hard work/goodbye, the meaning depends on the situation it is used),” which is a custom in a Japanese company. I believe that I got used to it.
Favorites in Japan
Onigiri (rice balls) sold in convenience stores became one of my favorites. I was surprised that the food quality here is higher than the convenience stores in France. I searched on Google map for nearby shrines and temples. I also like Japanese gardens.
Visiting the Factory
Last week, I went to the Main Plant. I was impressed by the professionalism and the kindness of the people who work there. Looking at how the products are made, I thought it was wonderful.
Conclusion
Ms. Sheima was the first intern student from overseas for us to accept. It was great to have you here. It was surprising to know that it is common to join internships from high school in France.
We are looking forward to seeing you again! Thank you for accepting our interview.
