MY JOB: Ms. S, Assistant of International Sales Division

Today I would like to introduce Ms. S.M., who joined the International Sales Division in 2020. As the assistant of the whole International Sales Division, she is responsible for coordinating agents in all countries. Let’s take a look at the daily life of our rising star in the workplace, Ms. S!

Q. Please tell us about your previous job and how you came to join our company.

I used to work as a team assistant and secretary at the London branch of a Japanese general trading company. I came to know about Kono Seisakusho when I returned to Japan to look for a new job with a focus on “jobs that connect Japan and overseas”. I decided to join the company partly because the job description matched what I wanted, and I also felt that I would be happy working for such a company at the interview. Besides that, I had been working for a trading company and wanted to experience a manufacturer’s position.

Q. What are your main responsibilities at present?

As an assistant in the International Sales Division, I mainly perform some quantitative management and task management within the department, arrange meetings with various agents and handle inquiries. Since last December, I have joined the cosmetics development team, responsible for market research and product development. I was surprised when I was assigned because I seldom have the opportunity to work with colleagues from other departments, and working with the current team members has refreshed my mind.

Q. What do you pay attention to in your work?

The way things are perceived and felt differs from country to country, so when communicating with agents in different countries, the way and timing of what you say is very important. Even when I have a request that I really need to ask for, I always think about how I can encourage them to take action without making them feel uncomfortable. Also, since I mainly work from home and have few opportunities to interact with colleagues in other departments, when I go to the office, I always try to communicate with them actively and never forget to be friendly.

Q. How do you spend your free time and what are your hobbies?

I like snowboarding, traveling abroad, and driving. I also drive myself when I go snowboarding. I have traveled abroad to 25 countries so far, mostly in Europe!

Q. What are your future goals?

In the International Sales Division, my goal is to work fast and well to achieve the sales of the department, and in the Cosmetics Development Team, my goal is to think about what I can do to contribute to the team and the company.
My personal goal is to improve my snowboarding, even though I can’t go there easily due to COVID-19!

Comment from her supervisor, Mr. O.

Ms. S is solid and very smart. She is bright and flexible and is called “the boss behind the scenes” by everyone in the International Sales Division.

(Excerpt from “My Job” in the April 2022 issue of the company newsletter)
