What is a “Medical Equipment” exhibition where you can see, touch, experience and learn?

“Medical Equipment” exhibition where you can see, touch, experience and learn is Japan’s first hands-on medical equipment learning event for elementary school students, organized by the Japan Medical Equipment Association’s Youth Up Group.

As part of our contribution to the local community, we participate in this event every year and teach elementary school students about the importance of medical care and health through hands-on suturing and ligature* experience using surgical sutures with actual needles.

(※Ligation…to bind and tie blood vessels for hemostasis, etc.)

Scenes from the day of the exhibition

Three of our employees participated in this year’s event.

Our energetic young members are no less energetic than the elementary school students!

We had prepared a hands-on experience set and our world’s smallest surgical needle, to attract everyone’s interest!

On the day of the event, we had separate exhibitions for the 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade students. I was very impressed to see the different atmosphere of the different grades, and we were all struck by how much they have grown up in just one year…When the exhibition started, students from all grades listened carefully to our explanations and participated in the experience enthusiastically. I am sure I’m not the only one who was keenly aware of the students’ high level of interest and motivation for medical Devices.

The following are some of the comments we received from the students who participated in the workshop.

“For the first time, I was able to realize that surgery requires tools.”

“I would like to work in the medical field.”

“I enjoyed the suture practice (suturing experience).”

“It is difficult to sew because of the different shapes of the needles, and I enjoyed tying the thread in the surgical knotting technique.”

We were very happy to hear from many visitors that they were interested in medical care (equipment) and that they enjoyed our exhibition.

Elementary school students were also curious with our equipments!

Finally

In addition to our company, many other medical Device-related companies also participated in the Exhibition.

This kind of exhibition is a valuable opportunity for us to learn about the efforts of other companies, and I was able to take a peek at the exhibition booths of several other companies during my free time!

I tried Okada Medical’s “Negative Pressure Fixture Magic Bed”!

It was also a great learning opportunity not only for the students but also for us.

We are looking forward to seeing all the elementary school students and other companies again next year.
