Hello, I am Tamada, manager of the Corporate Communications Department (CC Department). As a matter of fact, a new member joined the CC Department on August 1! The CC Department is full of unique members, but what kind of person is the new member, Ms Mori? We interviewed her to find out more about her personality!
My hometown, Kobe, is a city sandwiched between mountains and the sea
Tamada: Could you tell us where you are from, Ms Mori?
Mori: I was born in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. I grew up in Kobe, changing locations within the city. When I was in college, I commuted to Osaka (2 hours each way!). I commuted across Osaka to school, so I became familiar with the geography of Osaka. I moved to Tokyo just two years ago.
Tamada: Were there any differences between your hometown of Kobe, Osaka, and Tokyo?
Mori: In Kobe City, there are mountains to the north and the sea to the south, and that is how I recognized the direction, so when I went to other areas and saw mountains everywhere I turned, I would get confused. (laugh) When you meet someone in Kobe, you can say, “Let’s meet at the ticket gate on the mountain side. My junior high and high school were located on the hills of the Rokko mountain range, and I had to climb a tremendous hill every day to get to school. Students used to call going to school “mountain climbing. (Laugh)
Tamada: Climbing a mountain every day sounds tough, but a school on top of a mountain sounds very pleasant!
Mori: The night view was really beautiful, wasn’t it?
Tamada: What kind of child were you in your childhood?
Mori: I heard that you were an active child. When I was in elementary school, I was fast and was chosen to be a relay runner. I think those were the brightest days for me. The other day, when I went to the elementary school to vote in the election, I did an aerial breech on the bars and was told that I looked heavy.
Tamada: （You must still be very active to be doing back hip circle even as an adult…!）
Formerly an employee of a university-affiliated hospital → went to an accounting position at an IT company
Tamada: What kind of work did you do at your previous job?
Mori: When I graduated, I became a university employee and worked at a hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine. There, I procured medical supplies, filed medical-related notifications, and just kept statistics on the hospital. Later, after moving to Tokyo, I changed jobs at an IT company and worked in accounting and finance.
Tamada: It sounds like you have a strong background in numbers!
Mori: That’s right. (laughs) I really enjoyed taking medical statistics. From there, I began to think that statistics and accounting/finance work might be a good fit for me.
The trigger for my career change was “sympathy for our business“
Tamada: Please tell us why you joined our company.
Mori: Actually, at my previous job at an IT company, I was not very interested in the business content. That is when I changed jobs. I felt the importance of the business content and decided to join a company where I could work for a long time before I turned 30 years old. I narrowed my focus to the medical industry because I had found it rewarding to be involved in medical care while working at a hospital. When I proceeded to the interview, I found the 7:3 rule of working attractive. The PR work itself sounded attractive, but since I had no experience in PR, I thought that if I could be involved in a wide range of other work, I might be able to make use of my experience and skills somewhere else.
Tamada: It has been two months since you joined the company. What is your impression of Kono Seisakusho?
Mori: My impression differs depending on the location, but I think it’s great that everyone greets each other so actively. When I greet people, they greet me back, so I work actively to greet them as well.
Tamada: Communication among employees is certainly active!
About your hobbies
Tamada: Please tell us about your hobbies.
Mori: I’ve always liked music, and I was a student who always wore earphones. After becoming a member of society, I also go to outdoor music festivals. I also like vehicles such as cars. During my training at the Tsukuba Factory, I checked the cuteness of the employees’ cars.
What you want to achieve
Tamada: Is there anything you would like to achieve in the future?
Mori: I hope to write blog posts about the tidbits of manufacturing knowledge I collected in my notebook during training. As an ambition, I would like to make it so that not only those who know about Kono Seisakusho but also those who do not know about us can read it, so that it will come to the top of search results. I think it would be very enjoyable to analyze and work with visible results.
Tamada: That’s a very good idea! Thank you very much. (laugh)
Ms Mori has spent the past two months training at the factory and in various departments to learn more about our company, and now she will be assigned to this position. I was able to get to know a side of her that I did not know yet, her active side, and her personality that is interested in and involved in various things. Some of our members have taken maternity or childcare leave, and I look forward to working with them again in the future in the newly renewed CC Department!
